Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical science, the
origin of which can be traced back to the Vedas, which are the oldest
available classics of the world.
Ayurveda is a Holistic healing science,
which comprises of two words, Ayur and Veda. Ayur
means life and Veda means Knowledge or Science.
So the literal meaning of the word Ayurveda is the Science of Life.
Ayurveda is a Science dealing not only with
treatment of diseases but is also a complete way of life.
Ayurveda has always sought to prepare mankind for the realization of
the full potential of its self through a psychosomatic integration.

mind, body and soul. So it is clear from this definition of life that

gives a comprehensive knowledge about spiritual, mental and social health.
Theory of Balance -
According to Ayurveda health is the state of balance and
disease is the state of imbalance.
In Ayurveda, human body is not considered just as a mass
of organs, systems and tissues; but the complex mechanism' of myriad
functions taking place both at physical and mental level are evaluated
and described.
The Aim of Ayurveda is to give complete health
and to lead a happy, healthy and peaceful life.
